oh you will live in the stars
Hey everyone! A very rushed posting from France to announce my [info]spn_j2_bigbang fic. I have a lot I could say about this fic -- the learning process, the editing process, what I think worked, what I think didn't, etc. -- so it's probably lucky that I don't have time to ramble. I'll leave it simply at "hope you enjoy!" and let the rest fall where it may.

Much thanks to the two awesome artists who stepped up to provide cover/illustrations for this fic, [info]grayscaled and [info]sarahtoga. They are both deeply, deeply cool, incredibly fun to work with, and their art is wonderful! You can find [info]sarahtoga's illustrations here -- go and leave her feedback! And

(Her LJ post is here!)

And now, the fic. To the best of my knowledge, there are no spoilers for the latter half of season two, but no guarantees up till that point. At some point I'll post about the Russian folktales that served as inspiration (or direct influence), but that time is not now. The title is from e.e. cummings.

Swear By All Flowers
Sam/Dean. 37,000+ words. Warnings for language and adult content. (Call it NC-17 to be safe.)

Two years after the yellow-eyed demon is defeated, the Winchesters are still waiting for their happy ending.

ONE | TWO | THREE | FOUR | FIVE | SIX [or read by tag]

I apologize in advance for delayed response to comments, but any and all feedback would be adored. Eeek! Hope you like.

I've just finished reading all six chapters and really, I find the whole story so very good that I just had to drop whatever I'm doing to write this.

Thank you for posting such a good piece of work in all it's chapters! I always enjoy reading stories that are good and long, contain a plot involving the supernatural and myths and most importantly slash.

You've turned my otherwise boring day in office into a good one. I'm going to read it all over again...

Cheers,
Serena

I love this fic.

It is just brilliant. I love how you took the Baba Yaga fairytale and made it work with 'Supernatural', weave it through Sam and Dean, and made it something new, something amazing.

I love this so much.

Whee!

Thank you for writing and sharing. I thought it was strong all the way through and I realize that can be a real challenge working with this length.

I liked the way you wove in the case and how interesting it was - I'm a fan of folktales and this was a real treat.

Whoa, that was awesome. I don't even like this fandom that much, but this story is fucking amazing.

Honey, I adored reading this, every word. It's so Sam, and so Dean, so them. You take my breath away with how perfectly you translate them into words, you really do. I can't possibly express how much pleasure it gave me to read this. Plus, I've been dying to read a Baba Yaga story, and this is just awesomeness. And John. John and Sam! John talking to Dean! And did I mention JOHN AND SAM! God, I love that you included that. *holds up perfect 10*

{{{{hugs you in thanks}}}} <--I'm so doing that in person next time I see you. Prepare to be embarrassed. :)

Oh wow. This is lovely. The emotion!porn is so perfectly to my taste - both of them wanting, and neither of the saying - and the plot is really well done - very mythic. It just. mmm. thrilled me. The point when I lost it and just melted into a giant puddle of squee:

At first, Sam thought the house was on stilts; then one of the stilts moved.

The house took a step closer.

"Dude," said Dean, "You have got to be kidding me."

I read this in one sitting, and I've gone through the emotional gambit. Gut wrenching fear, heart wrenching love of these two men, stomach rolling anxiety and heart swelling joy for the ending. You are a magnificent writer. You made slash honorable and an epic love story. Thank-you.

This story is just crazy awesome :D I read it a while back and have been meaning to let you know how much I liked it. I love the slow build up and how Dean deals with the little girl's ghost, and the tasks the Baba Yaga set him, and Sam realisation, and how they actually talked things through and then took things slow when they did get started. Fantastic storytelling. Thank you for writing (sorry bout the flow of consciousness reply, but I'm raaaaather sleepy zzzzzzzzz)

*gasp* Awesome!
This was probably one of the most beautiful and most believable wincest-fics I ever read.
I loved the way you portrayed Sam and especially Dean (the dork to end all dorks ^_~) and the way you explored their fragile relationship and all those unsaid feelings. And you even had an actual plot! *_* It was so angsty and sad, funny and cute and really exciting - all at the same time.
It was soooo beautiful - I have to go now and recommend it to all my friends.

nice story :)
Hey, just wanted to let you know I stumbled across this and really enjoyed reading it. My mother always used to read my sister and I Russian fairy tales before bed and it was fun and a bit nostalgic to revisit babayaga :)

So, I know I'm way too late, but just wanted to say this fic is really, really awesome. I'm Russian myself (well, Ukrainian, but it's almost the same), and yet I didn't know all the details about Baba Yaga, like blue roses and stuff :) So strange to see everyone knows our fairy tales, huh. And the boys? Are awesome. Their feelings are believable, and... and thank you! :)

absolutely beautiful.
i was actually scared of the baba yagas when they first appeared in the story, something I don't often find with fanfic, but it was wonderfully done.
